Renu decided to give a treat. So there we were, two families, driving away to this restaurant.
The place is divided into two sections - the ground floor, where the staff which welcomes the guests and registers them, and the first floor section which is the actual restaurant. The restaurant again is divided into two sections, the enclosed airconditioned area inside and the roadside-view-offering glass paned gallery outside.
We chose the latter. The entire section was done up with cubical chandeliers, giving it a very strobe light appearance.

We first went for the appetisers. Fish Dry Garlic - my choice (INR 340) and Crispy Ginger Chicken - courtesy Harish (INR 290). The Fish appeared orangish in colour with a whole lot of burnt garlic crumbs sprinkled over it. Yummy. The Crispy Ginger Chicken, a whole lot in quantity, was decent too.
We called for soups, Chicken Manchow soup and Veg 5 spice soup.
For the uninitiated Manchow soup is a dark brown soup prepared with various vegetables, spring onions and chicken, thickened withstock and corn flour, and flavored with relatively generous doses of soy sauce, salt, garlic and chili peppers. It may also be garnishedwith chopped spring onions.
And this chicken soup, fitted this description to the T.
The Veg 5 Spice soup, on the other hand was a clear broth with lots of greens and carrots and cabbage leaves. Not my type.
The main course, the kids chose Veg Fried Rice (INR 225). We called for a Thai Pot Rice Veg (INR 305). The last had mushroom bits and basil leaves in a concoction of boiled rice in red coconut curry. Thick with exotic veggies like baby corn and zucchini and broccoli, this was simply extra ordinary.
The dessert was Mission Impossible (INR 250). A huge chocolate cream cake with slices having generous doses of chocolate sauce in it, served with two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Rich in taste but equally rich in calories, it was sinful every bite.
The verdict: Good going. The portions are large, the ambiance is nice, the service could be spruced up a bit though. There was no personalised attention given, and there was an air of just getting done with the order. A manager hanging around, asking opinions and suggestions or a consent given to minor, inconsequential customisations, would have helped to a great extent.
