Frozen yogurt is a healthier alternative to ice-cream. It typically has just over 1 calorie per gm – barely a third of the calories of a premium ice-cream. It also contains probiotic cultures, which along with other ingredients, offer a range of health benefits. Its primarily because of this that frozen yogurt has been among the fastest growing dessert categories worldwide.
The About Us section of their website, quaintly, is silent on the promoter G S Bhalla or its CEO Rahul Deans. No information on the brains behind the venture nor the history. A skeletal information on the milestones achieved in the last five years.
I visited the location for the first time. Courtesy their half flap advertisement in the Bombay Times. Plus an offer of one plus one.
I get charmed by the plethora of toppings kept on display. You had everything imaginable - raisins, crushed cashews, crushed almonds, mango jelly, white choco chips, anjeer bits, prunes, jujubes, nata de apple, Oreo biscuit crush, gems and many more.
We call for two Regular cups (INR 164 each) - one Anjeer and one chocolate. We ask for assorted toppings - four each. The final presentation was as below:
The stuff was pure delight. Had we not been aware, we wouldn't have known that we were NOT having an ice cream. The yogurt was just perfect, neither too sour nor too sweet, neither too thick nor too light. The toppings came up aces, lending a grace to the concoction. The absence of guilt with every bite only added to the overall experience.
The verdict:
Any kind of innovation needs to applauded. Kudos for the concept.
But a thumbs down to the prices. Rs 109 for a little cup of flavored yogurt without any toppings is outrageous. Had it not been for the Times offer, I would not have even ventured near it.
