Ooh wotta find!
An absolute non descript affair, a miss and blink place, it is not even an apparent commercial outlet. Its actually located on the ground floor of an old world charm Maharashtrian society in one of the bylanes behind Sena Bhavan, carrying an air of a household eatery. But then the grumbling of folks waiting outside in order to get in sort of shakes you by the shoulders from your dream world.
Enter inside and its a simple longish room. A bench and table atmosphere, divided into two rows of three sets each. I have been told that they have three such sections, but I don't know about that. An utter lack of concern for the ambiance actually earns them brownie points for their environment. A tokenism is there though in the guise of a large fishing net hung on the wall, carrying a long oar. An occasional painting here and there, and I guess they feel that they have done their duty.

But thats absolutely immaterial. Lets talk about food.
We called for a Malwan Katta special thali (INR 350). One small bowl of Chicken masala, one bowl of Mutton keema, one bowl of chicken kaleji, one large Surmai fry piece, one bowl of rassa, one bowl of solkadhi, two chapattis and one plateful of rice. Okay I want to challenge anyone in this world to provide me an equivalent for the price. Absolutely awesommmmmme. We also called for one veg preparation (aalu baingan, the only veggie available - a small bowl for INR 25), one wati daal (INR 25), one glassful of solkadi (INR 25), Four extra chapattis (INR 6 each), two Thumsup 500 ml (INR 40 each). All super. But then we were not sated and we called for one Chicken Sukke (INR 140). Hell! A large bowl of chicken, chicken and chicken, in thick gravy. You have to see it to believe it. |

And when the bill came, I paid up happily. But later, reaching home, the wife pointed out something which made me sad. They had forgotten to charge me for the Chicken Sukke.
Sigh!
