1330 hours, 17th July 2014, Thursday:
This is a typical Udipi restaurant, a far off cousin of Shabari of Santacruz West. Located at the junction of Four Bungalows - Lokhandwala Road and the SAB TV Lane, its hard to miss.
The place is divided into three sections - the open air outside, the cosseted inner room and one AC room in the basement. The last sometimes doubles up as a birthday party room as well.
The restaurant, toeing the line of innumerable other mid level eateries, has tried to embrace every kind of cuisine - South Indian food, North Indian food, chaat items, Pav bhajis, Pizzas, Chinese food, and so on. But its soul still lies in their originally intended idea, the South Indian food.
We ordered for a Masala Dosa, a Chhole Bhature and a Veg Handi Biryani.
The Masala Dosa arrived almost immediately. It was a fairly large sized dosa. The stuffing inside was also of good quantity. They could however do better with sambar and chutney quantity. Overall the fare tasted good, but nothing to shout about.
Then arrived Chhole Bhature and Biryani. The chhole again, were sufficient in quantity and the bhatures were two in numbers, and medium sized. They tasted delicious.
The biryani was rich with spices and vegetables, and was well cooked.
Overall it was a decent experience, though they could do something on the customer delight angle.
The ratings, they go like this.:
The Food Quotient : Food Quality 3.5 / 5, Food Choices 4 / 5, Food Portion 3 / 5
The Other Determinants : Location 3.5 / 5, Cleanliness 2.5 / 5, Service 2.5 / 5
The Hygiene Factors : Ambiance 2.5 / 5, Space quotient 3 / 5, Delivery time 3 / 5
