I wish I was a space man,
The fastest guy alive.
I'd fly you round the universe,
In the Black hole we'll arrive.
Grab a Frappe from Starbucks,
A cappuccino in the skies.
My heart would be a fireball, a fireball,
Every time I gazed into your starry eyes.

As we enter the store, the largeness of the real estate hits us in the face. The grandeur is thick around, the high ceilings, the cylindrical chandeliers, the series of chalk - on - the - blackboard art graphics gives the place a superlative air of panache. The cushioned couches and the wooden chairs with patrons busy on their laptops or chatting around insouciant only adds to the overall oomph.
Starbucks serves hot and cold beverages, whole-bean coffee, micro ground instant coffee, full-leaf teas, pastries, and brownies, sandwiches and wraps, muffins and croissants.
We are warned that we would be served only as takeaway, the place would be closing down for the day in ten. We are disheartened, but only a bit. Fair, we declare. We take some time analyzing the menu, and finally decide our order.
The missus calls for a Hazelnut Latte - Tall (INR 175), the daughter calls for a Mocha Praline Frappuccino (INR 195), I select the Chocolate Raspberry Crunch cake (INR 180).
We decided to have our food quickly in the store itself before the curtain falls.
The Hazelnut Latte is an espresso brew made by the process of boiling water pressure forced over finely ground coffee beans. Our latte was enriched with hazelnut sweet syrup and topped with creamy steamed milk. The concoction had highly concentrated flavor, right level of sweetness and appropriate consistency.
The Mocha frappuccino was a foam covered iced coffee, coming right out of a shaker. Blended with rich mocha sauce and milk, it was served with whipped cream. The presentation was as good as the taste, and the little one was delighted.
My cake was a large piece of an egg less chocolate cake with smooth chocolate layered on sides and in between. This was topped with raspberry puree. It tasted premium doubtless, though I couldn't make out the crunchy praline biscuit within. Probably I was not very discerning.
We finished our food well in time, and returned home, elated.
The verdict:
Drama and spectacle marks the food. Many a dish is like a sculpted work of art and architecture. There is enough pizzazz to divert you from the cliched plot. Yet sometimes it feels good to have a reminder of how much pleasure can be had just from being tucked into elegance and graciousness.
