When a brand deliberately conceals information about its etymology, it automatically becomes a suspect.
Where did this brand come from? What are its origins? The story behind it? The promoters, the people who have created it? When did this come into existence? How much has it grown? What is its USP? ...
The website, www.thebakeshop.in is woefully silent on these issues. And this flabbergasts me.
They offer Cakes, Savories, "Deserts" (sic), Bakery (???) and Bread.
Their Regular varieties cakes cost INR 600 a kg. Monginis, like to like, costs INR 650 and above.
They have varieties like "Black Current", "Rasberry" and "Ferero Rocher". They ought to kick out their copywriter.
We called for a BlueBerry cake to celebrate the birthday of a colleague in office. And when the product arrived, it wowed us. The presentation was supreme.
And the food was good to eat even. Extremely soft, it could barely be handled. Melting straight in the mouth. The blueberry jelly was rich too, standing true to its name. The only downer was the foamy vanilla icing, it only served as a noise and actually negated the overall delight.

The verdict:
The Bake Shop remains caught in the universal whirlpool of bakery expectations, It doesn't step up to another level.While the intensive efforts might be commendable it might want to look at moving out of its comfort zone. Some experimentation wouldn't harm.
